In Save the last dance for me Alessandro Sciarroni lavora assieme ai danzatori Gianmaria Borzillo e Giovanfrancesco Giannini sui passi di un ballo bolognese chiamato Polka Chinata. Si tratta di una danza di corteggiamento eseguita in origine da soli uomini e risalente ai primi del ‘900: fisicamente impegnativo, quasi acrobatico, prevede che i danzatori abbracciati l’un l’altro, girino vorticosamente mentre si piegano sulle ginocchia quasi fino a terra.
Sciarroni scopre questa danza nel dicembre 2018 quando la danza era praticata in Italia solo da 5 persone in tutto. Per questa ragione, il progetto è composto da una performance eseguita dai danzatori e da una serie di workshop volti a diffondere e ridare vita a questa tradizione popolare in via d’estinzione.
